On the web and as native apps for iPhone and Android. Free to start, no card required. ## About Earonman Earonman is an ear training app built by a professional jazz pianist. It runs in any browser at https://www.earonman.com and as native apps for iPhone/iPad (App Store) and Android (Google Play, since June 2026). One account carries the same progress across web, iOS and Android. Every exercise plays real recordings: a Petrof III grand piano recorded at Baracca Records, plus seven more instruments (Rhodes, strings, harp, electric guitar, flute, clarinet, French horn). The app speaks English, Czech, Spanish, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. ## What is in it ### Curriculum (Exercises) - 250+ levels in eighteen sections, from a perfect fifth to polychords. Each level introduces one new thing. - Levels have lives, XP, streaks and badges. - Short lessons with Dr. Earmond Sharp arrive as a chat with audio examples, a minute or two each, before the level they prepare. ### Trainers Four free modules: 1. Intervals - ascending, descending and harmonic, up to compound intervals 2. Chords - triads, seventh chords and inversions 3. Scales - major scale modes, melodic and harmonic minor, symmetric and bebop scales 4. Jazz Voicings - closed, shell, drop 2/3, quartal, upper structures and more Six advanced quest modes (Pro): 5. Slashmaster - triad inversions written as slash chords (C, C/E, C/G) 6. Functioneer - the function of each chord in a key, secondary dominants, progressions 7. Harmonic Quest - Barry Harris chord movements played on the keyboard. In the app: Listen, Follow and By ear, in any of the twelve keys. On the web a fourth step, In tempo, adds a metronome and tempo control. 8. Guido - guide tones (the 3rd and the 7th of every chord) through whole tunes, in four phases: Listen, Follow, By ear and In tempo 9. Hybrid Lab - triads over a bass note 10. Polychordist - stacked triads (polychords) ### Practice Mode Endless drilling in any of the ten modes, with no lives and no timer. Correct answers earn XP and count towards the daily streak, and sessions show up in your stats; practice XP stays out of the weekly leagues. Free accounts get a core set inside each free module (intervals up to the octave, triads and seventh chords, major scale modes, basic jazz voicings); Pro unlocks the full library. ### Tune-up A short daily review session built from your own answer history: items you miss come back sooner, items you always get right come back later. Free for everyone. ### Ways to answer - Tap the answer, or play it on the on-screen piano. - MIDI keyboard (USB or Bluetooth): Jazz Voicings, Harmonic Quest and Guido, on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android. - Open Mic (Pro, iPhone and Android app only): sing the answer or play it on your own instrument; the pitch is analysed on the device. ### Motivation Daily streaks, XP, badges, Weekly Leagues, asynchronous Duels against another player, and Ear Coins earned by training and spent on instruments, streak freezes, XP boosts and Timbres (themes that re-skin the app). ### Earonman Studio (for teachers) A dashboard for teachers and schools: classes, homework, a weak-spot heatmap per student and item, announcements and printable per-student reports. Studio is free for teachers; access is switched on on request, usually within a day.
