Velvet
Latest
Released August 3, 2026
✨ Highlights
- • The app has been redrawn from the ground up: its own typefaces, a deep velvet background lit from the top with a fine grain, warm cream text, and every card lit from its own corner instead of sitting flat
- • Timbres: twelve colour schemes you can buy with EarCoins and wear across the whole app, each one drawn from a different corner of record and instrument design
New Features
5
- •Twelve Timbres are now on sale for EarCoins: Pressing, Stillness, Signal, Oxblood, Phosphor, Tweed, Panel, Walnut, Gatefold, Daylight, Fluoro and Concrete. Two of them are light. Each carries a one-line description and a preview, so you can tell what it is before you buy it.
- •A Timbre picker in Settings puts on whichever one you own. The whole app follows: backgrounds, text, icons, the level map's nodes, quest colours in Stats and the dashboard's training grid.
- •The app now uses its own typefaces instead of the system font: Instrument Sans for reading, Sometype Mono for numbers and labels, and a serif for screen titles, so the three do different jobs.
- •The background carries a very fine grain, so it reads a little more like paper under a lamp and a little less like a lit panel. On Android 9 and older the effect is skipped, because those versions cannot blend it correctly.
- •Quest type rows in Stats fill with light to match your accuracy, so you can read how you are doing across trainers at a glance.
Improvements
7
- •The Practice screen groups the ten trainers into five families - Distance, Stack, Key, Motion and Outside - instead of showing ten competing colours at once.
- •Every practice setup screen is rebuilt. Start is the same orange button on every trainer, longer option names are no longer cut off, and options that do not apply right now are greyed out with a line saying why, instead of disappearing.
- •Every practice type has a new description saying what you hear and what you do, in place of wording that assumed you already knew.
- •Popups, tutorial steps and every other overlay now blur the screen behind them instead of only dimming it, so the text on top stays readable.
- •Chat lessons take the new look: message bubbles are cards lit in the speaker's own colour.
- •Body text is a warm cream rather than a cool near-white, and the near-duplicate greys the app had accumulated collapsed into one dimmed-text colour.
- •Settings, notification settings, the exercise picker, Stats, the league, duels, daily goals and help cards all use the same lit surface now.
Bug Fixes
8
- •Fixed a crash when starting an exercise from the level map. The bottom tab bar set up its slide animation only after deciding whether to hide itself, so the hide-and-show that every full-screen exercise performs could leave it in an inconsistent state.
- •The level map, Guido and Harmonic Quest were the only screens still painting their own background over the new one.
- •The Accuracy Trend chart in Stats drew its line past the edge of its card, because it guessed its width instead of measuring it.
- •The level-complete celebration kept the previous Timbre's accent colours after a switch.
- •The two light Timbres now get a background, status bar and blurred overlays suited to a light screen.
- •The keyboard-shortcut separators in the Guido exercise were so dark they were effectively invisible.
- •The auto-advance switch in Settings briefly showed On before correcting itself, for anyone who had turned it off.
- •Rounded corners in about forty places had quietly got 2-4px tighter.

Velvet on the Web, and Studio for Teachers
Latest
Released August 3, 2026
✨ Highlights
- • The website now wears the app's design: the same velvet background and grain, the same typefaces, the same lit cards
- • Earonman Studio is out of beta and open to every teacher, with per-seat billing, a 14-day trial and invoicing for schools
New Features
6
- •Earonman Studio is live for teachers and schools: classes, homework, a weak-spot heatmap, announcements, a class leaderboard and per-student PDF reports.
- •Studio billing: EUR4 per seat per month with a 14-day free trial on a first subscription, or an invoice for schools with seats opened for an agreed term.
- •A teacher can reserve a seat for a specific student instead of relying only on who joined first, and the roster says who a seat actually covers.
- •The Learn page has a new shape: a rail on the left tells you what to do next, and the map keeps the middle, with a plain lesson list and a course map of all eighteen units as alternative views.
- •Instruments can now be bought on the website too, and admins can try any Timbre from Settings to see the whole site re-skin.
- •A page for Open Mic at /features/open-mic explaining how it works and what happens to your voice (nothing leaves your device).
Improvements
3
- •The homepage now describes what the app actually does: fourteen platform features instead of eight, with curriculum counts read from the database rather than repeated from two years ago.
- •Every page linked from the footer sits on the velvet background, and the marketing pages use proper cards.
- •The website's colours now live in the same shared package as the app's.
Bug Fixes
6
- •Homework that uses a Pro-only trainer or a Pro-only item now actually requires Pro, instead of working for every free student regardless of whether their teacher pays for seats.
- •The class roster no longer calls a student who already has Pro a free-tier student, and says whether that Pro was bought or granted.
- •Seats are no longer spent on students who already have Pro of their own, since a seat gave them nothing while still costing the teacher.
- •Studio seats granted for a fixed period now actually stop at the end of it.
- •Two things the pricing page promised for free were not free: the Jazz Voicings game mode and the scale levels.
- •Every semantic colour on the website now actually renders. The roles behind green, amber, red, sky, purple and pink were written in a way the browser rejected, which is why nav chips and the coin counter showed up grey or invisible.
