✨ Highlights

  • • MIDI keyboards send their notes to the app again on iPhone, and Bluetooth keyboards can be paired without leaving Earonman
  • • Sixteen teaching mistakes corrected across the interactive lessons, in English and in all four translations at once
  • • Level names now use the same words as the answer buttons inside them, so a level never asks for one scale and calls it another
  • • Every correction reached the course itself rather than waiting for this update, so nobody had to install anything to get them

  • •Bluetooth MIDI pairing inside the app on iPhone. iOS does not list a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard in its own Bluetooth settings, so the app opens Apple's pairing window itself, and a keyboard that has connected turns up in the device list on its own.
  • •Guido's song practice accepts a sung answer, not only a tapped one. Both of its screens ask for a single note over a sustained chord, so both now offer the microphone and the live pitch reading, anchored to the note being asked for. Open Mic is a Pro feature.

  • •The interactive lessons and the level map read the same way in Czech, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Japanese as they do in English. Where a correction was needed, it landed in all five at once, so no language is left teaching an older version of the theory.
  • •Five level names were brought in line with what the exercise actually asks. Level 65 was called "Lydian #9" while its own answer button read "Lydian ♯2", and two levels named a scale "Altered Dominant" where the button says "Altered Scale" - one of them naming both of its scales the same way as a result.

Bug Fixes

  • •A MIDI keyboard would appear as connected and then send nothing. Incoming notes were being read from memory the system had already reclaimed.
  • •The MIDI device window and the Open Mic message could not open on a phone in several places, because both had been placed in the tablet layout only.
  • •The keyboard indicator was lit on every iPhone whether or not anything was attached, since iOS always publishes a network MIDI source and any source at all counted as a keyboard.
  • •A descending perfect fourth was counted as four half-steps instead of five, in a lesson whose own perfect fifth was counted correctly.
  • •A quartal exercise said to move a shape "diatonically, in C major" over a stack built on B♭ and E♭, neither of which is in C major.
  • •A thirteenth-chord lesson offered B and "B natural" as if they were two different sevenths. It now explains what really separates the three chords: the third as well as the seventh.
  • •Five reference tables had been flattened into single lines that contradicted themselves, the worst of them reading "v / V = minor (MAJOR)". They read as tables again.
  • •A lesson pointed at "level 9" for a comparison the course renumbered to level 25, and an interval lesson promised thirteen intervals while walking through twelve. It now walks the twelve and names the thirteenth the exercise adds: the unison.
  • •The diminished sign was written as the letter o two lines below the legend explaining the sign.

  • •Voicing practice now offers fourteen voicing families and builds every question fresh from the formulas, in all twelve keys - including the new Block Chords, So What inversions and both m11 stacks. The setup screen lists these families instead of the old database categories.
  • •The daily Tune-up arrives on the web: a card appears in the training sidebar when there is something worth revisiting, and the interval, chord and scale reviews play right in the browser. No lives, free for everyone, and it counts toward your streak.
  • •The course grew from 217 to 251 levels, and since levels live on the server, web players get all of it too: bridge levels into inversions and Upper Structures, a runway through the progressions, and a Voicings section that now opens with its easiest family first.
  • •The mobile-app page shows the app as it looks today - fresh screenshots of the current design, including Open Mic, the leagues and the instrument timbres - and the footer link now says Mobile App.

Improvements

  • •Free practice on the website now saves. It used to record nothing at all, so the same evening of practice kept a streak alive on the phone and lost it in the browser. A web session is now recorded when you leave it, exactly like on the phone.
  • •The training sidebar is calmer: the Tune-up is a single quiet line under the Continue button instead of a second boxed card, and the big subscription card is gone from the bottom - your plan lives in the avatar menu, where account things belong.
  • •On the free plan, the training sidebar quietly shows how many of today's exercises you have left.
  • •The Functioneer settings screen matches the rest of the app: sections sit on calm cards with a single amber accent, while the degree buttons keep their harmonic-function colours, which actually mean something.

Bug Fixes

  • •Chord changes now connect on the web too: when Functioneer plays a progression, the top voice steps to the nearest note of the next chord instead of jumping by up to an octave.
  • •Generated voicings are spelled the way a musician reads them - B7 shows D#, not Eb. Notation only; the sound was always right.
  • •Minor-key Functioneer levels on the website now play every chord they promise. A degree-name mismatch was silently dropping every flat or diminished degree, so a seven-chord level quietly played only three.
  • •The website header is back in three zones: streak and coins on the left, navigation centred, instrument and volume controls on the right.
  • •The level-complete window matches the new design: one calm card with your numbers as tiles, instead of the old three-colour gradient.
